About me

Óscar Pérez Méndez was born in Baza, a village in Granada, Spain. He began his music studies at the José Salinas Conservatory of Music in Baza until 2012, when he was accepted at the Reina Sofia School of Music in the class of Professor Klaus Thunemann, where he continued his studies with him and Professor Francisco Alonso Serena.

In 2014, he began his Bachelor’s studies at the Zurich University of the Arts in the class of Professor Matthias Racz. In 2018 he finished his Bachelor’s degree and started his Master’s degree at the same university, still in the class of Professor Matthias Racz.

From 2016 until the summer of 2019, he was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. He actively participates in orchestras such as: Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Swiss Orchestra, Spira Mirabilis, the Orchestra of Europe, the European Philharmonic of Switzerland, Vogtland Philharmonie, Orchestra Leonora, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, etc.

He has performed at festivals in halls such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Musikverein Vienna, Royal Albert Hall in Proms, Salzburg Festival, The Queens Hall in Edinburgh, Gulbenkien, Auditorio Nacional de Musica de España, etc. under the baton of conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Philippe Jordan, David Afkham, Franz Helmerson, etc.

He received master classes in chamber music from teachers such as Dominik Wollenweber, Michelle Arrignon, Marta Gulyas, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Marco Posthingel and Radovan Vlatković among others.
